Shipping Something Heavy?
If your parcel is over 25 kg, take a look at the guidelines below. If your parcel is over 70 kg, it’s considered freight.

Use calibrated scales placed on a flat surface to get an accurate measurement. For packages over 25kg, use industrial-grade scales. Record the weight in kilograms to one decimal point (e.g., 12.5 kg). Include all packaging materials in your measurement.

For heavy items: 1. Use double-walled corrugated boxes 2. Reinforce all seams with heavy-duty packing tape 3. Use cushioning materials to prevent movement 4. Distribute weight evenly For items over 31.5kg, consider using wooden crates for maximum protection.

Clearly mark packages over 25kg with "HEAVY" labels on at least two sides. These warning labels help handlers identify heavy packages. You can download printable labels from our website or request them from your Presco Delivery representative.

FAQ

For Presco Delivery small parcel services, the maximum size is 274 cm in length and 400 cm in length plus girth (L+2W+2H). Exceeding these dimensions may require freight services.

For irregular shapes, measure at the longest points in each dimension. Use the smallest rectangular box that would completely contain your item for your measurements. The girth is calculated as 2x width plus 2x height.

Place your fully packaged shipment on a calibrated scale. Ensure the scale is on a flat surface and the parcel is centered. Record the weight in kilograms to the nearest 0.1 kg. Include all packaging materials in this measurement.

The billable weight is the greater of either the actual weight or dimensional weight. Dimensional weight is calculated as (LxWxH in cm)/5000 for international shipments or /6000 for domestic shipments. Presco Delivery will always charge based on whichever weight is higher.

Multiply the length, width and height in centimeters, then divide by the appropriate divisor (5000 for international, 6000 for domestic). Round up to the nearest 0.5 kg. Example: A 40x30x20 cm box would be (40×30×20)/6000 = 4 kg for domestic shipments.

For freight shipments over 70 kg, please contact Presco Delivery Freight Services. These shipments require special handling, equipment, and documentation. Our team can arrange for palletized shipping, liftgate service if needed, and proper freight documentation.

For palletized freight, the billable weight is calculated similarly to parcels but uses different divisors. Measure the pallet's length, width, and height including all packaging, then calculate (LxWxH in cm)/1000 for air freight or /3000 for ground freight. The greater of this dimensional weight or actual weight will be used.
